Dieterich Buxtehude (1637-1707) served as organist and ‘werkmeister’ at the Church of Saint Mary in Lübeck for nearly 40 years.  During his lifetime, he was considered the foremost organist in Germany.  Bach walked nearly 500 kilometers…each way…from Arnstadt to Lübeck to learn from Buxtehude’s example.  The newly revised edition of Kerala Snyder’s book, Dieterich Buxtehude: Organist in Lübeck, is the definitive text in English on the life and times of this important German Baroque musician.
