Following studies with Josef Rheinberger in Munich, Parker taught in Garden City, New Jersey, served at Trinity Church–Wall Street in New York City and Trinity Church, Copley Plaza in Boston, prior to his appointment in 1893 as Professor of Theory (and in 1904 as Dean of Music) at Yale University, where his most famous pupil was Charles Ives!
