While visiting the restored 1877 Johnson & Son organ which celebrates renewed vitality in the care of the School Sisters of Notre Dame at their Chapel of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Mankato, MN.

Featured Organ:

One of the most highly regarded American organbuilders, William Johnson & Son produced 860 instruments in the last third of the nineteenth century, of which this imposing 45-stop organ (1877 Johnson & Son/Our Lady of Good Counsel Abbey, Mankato, MN) built for Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Boston, is the largest remaining. The instrument came to Minnesota in 1975 when Saint Mary’s was slated for demolition. Recent restorative work was accomplished by Dobson Pipe Organ Builders of Lake City, IA.
